Rezoning Near Thomas Elementary
A proposed rezoning effort is underway that could significantly impact our community. The city is seeking to rezone the large open field directly to the east of the school, with access via the currently dead-end Sycamore Drive. They are proposing to rezone to an R-4, the highest density residential property available.
What This Means For Us:
● Increased Traffic: Expect a significant increase in vehicle traffic on 198th / 200th and surrounding streets.
● Overcrowded Schools & Services: More strain on our already busy local schools, infrastructure, and emergency services.
● Neighborhood Encroachment: The current zoning laws allow for all of these to be built 10 feet off the property line. Our neighbors in Covington and Northridge Estates may end up with new neighbors literally IN their backyards.
